About This Event

Learn the fundamentals of home recording and audio production to transform your song ideas into great sounding demos!

This 90-minute workshop will take you through the fundamentals of home recording and audio production to help you develop the necessary skills to transform your song ideas into high-quality demo recordings.

We’ll look at

• audio equipment – what you need for a basic home recording setup
• microphones, how to set them up and how to get a great sound out of them
• setting up your room to create the best possible recording environment
• pro recording techniques for guitar and vocals
• an introduction to essential production concepts – EQ, Panning and Compression

By the end of 90-minutes, you’ll have

• a greater understanding of the equipment required to record your own demos
• greater confidence in operating audio gear and recording software
• pro tips and tricks for capturing high-quality audio
• a better understanding of production fundamentals

This workshop is for songwriters who want to record their own songs and set up a recording space in their home.

There is an assumed knowledge of basic DAW operation – we will not be discussing how to set up Logic, ProTools or similar programs – instead we will be focusing on using these programs to capture audio and create basic productions of your songs.

Meet your teacher

This workshop will be presented by Benny Romalis.

Benny is the Founder and Head Producer of SILAMOR STUDIOS, a boutique studio specialising in Composition for Film, TV and Interactive Media. He writes and produces extensively across various instrumental and lyric-based genres and has been commissioned for major projects by Adobe, Cathay Pacific and Audible. He also currently releases original songs under the name SILAMOR.
